Fakhar Zaman's blitz topples Quetta Gladiators

Chasing 187, Watto failed to get going at the top. But Jason Roy playing his first game of PSL 2018 showed his might but couldn't convert his start. KP and Rameez Raja departed in quick intervals too. Rilee Rossouw gave a glimmer of hope with his fierce ball-striking. However, Lahore's bowlers unleashed their slower balls and yorkers to perfection in the end to help their side romp home with ease. Sarfraz Ahmed remained unbeaten, could only reduce the defeat-margin.

Fakhar Zaman gets the highest score of PSL2018

46 runs off the last 5 overs. Sure, Lahore would have liked more given the way Fakhar was batting. He took his time before launching himself and fell one shot short of a well- deserved hundred. Gulraiz Sadaf and Narine's 45-run association wasn't really flashy-slashy, but they did manage to get the odd boundaries which helped them post a competitive total on the board. Watson, Sarfraz help Gladiators top the table

Sarfraz Ahmed, MoM and Quetta captain: When I went in, it was 7.5 rpo needed. Rilee Rossouw played very well, against his nature. He kept telling me that he wanted to go for the big hit, but I kept reigning him in. I hoped that if we can bat through, we could chase it down. We gave away 10-12 runs extra, but the bowling overall was very good. With Jason Roy and Rashid Khan returning, we'll have to see how to make room for them.

Gladiators register their fifth win in eight games

Comfortable chase from Quetta in the end, despite losing Watson and Pietersen in back-to-back overs. The experienced heads in Rossouw and Sarfraz paced themselves out wonderfully, especially Sarfraz, whose timing was brilliant right from the start. Sir Viv Richards enthusiastically waves towards the stands, as his team record their third consecutive win, to go top of the table. They've turned things around in style, hitting form at the right time. This result now means that Lahore Qalandars are out of the tournament.

Peshawar Zalmi hit fifty in the final four overs

Darren Sammy special has helped Zalmi to edge past the 150-run mark in this game. It was his fellow countryman - Dwayne Smith who played an impressive knock earlier in the day. Though Smith missed out on his fifty by one run, his explosive innings consisted of five massive sixes. For Quetta Gladiators, Shane Watson was the best of the lot as he ended with figures of 26/2 in his 4 overs. Can Watto shine with the bat though? Shane Watson put up an amazing display of skill

Shane Watson (90*, 3-0-18-1), Man of the Match: "It was important to stay out there. A few mis-hits went in the gap. The ones that I hit went in the gap. There were a few dropped catches, so you've got to capitalize on those opportunities. I love to be a part of the team, and I'm enjoying my cricket right now." Shane Watson is the highest scorer of the PSL so far, thanks to his 90*, and he receives the Hanif Mohammad cap.

Quetta jump to second spot with big win

Sarfraz Ahmed, Quetta Gladiators captain: "The way KP and Watson batted, it was a learning experience for the youngsters. Brillaint batting. Their shot selection has been really good. And KP worked in a crucial match, which is what big players are all about. Whether we lose or we win, we try to give confidence to the players and that's how we have revived ourselves in the tournament. Rahat has bowled really well, and Nawaz has set the tone for us. Ben Laughlin did well as well, and Anwar was fabulous for us on the field too. Overall, a great team performance by our side."

Watson, Pietersen set up record win for Quetta

So there we are. A great start by Watson to the Gladiators' batting, and he carried his bat for an impressive 90*. Pietersen made a brisk half-century as well to give the innings some momentum, and they were absolutely unstoppable on their way to 180 (although they looked set for more at some stage). The move to promote Shahid Afridi backfired for the Kings, as he played and missed repeatedly, and finally just gifted his wicket for 1(6). After they were 2/2, the Kings never really recovered and lost 5 for 33. Imad Wasim tried to build a partnership, but he just wasn't getting the timing right in trying to hit the ball too hard. The Gladiators' spinners were supreme, snaffling a wicket apiece and conceding just 36 off their 8 overs and playing a big part in the highest margin of victory in PSL history. Watson (90*, 3-0-18-1) is a strong contender for MoM.

Watson, KP Powers Quetta Gladiators to 180

Quetta finish with 180, set up by a couple of excellent partnerships at the top. Watson and Pietersen looked in great rhythm out there, putting Karachi's bowlers under a lot of pressure through their aggressive strokeplay. Karachi were on the way to pulling things back after Pietersen's departure, but Watson carried on and has driven Quetta to a very sizeable total here. It will have to be the highest run-chase in the PSL this year if Karachi are to get there.

Imran Tahir hat-trick helps Multan Sultans breeze to victory

A dominant show of their bowling might, studded by an Imran Tahir hat-trick helped Multan Sultans crush Quetta Gladiators at the Sharjah Stadium on Saurday (March 3). Tahir and Sohail Tahir took six wickets between them to shoot Quetta out for 102 before Kumar Sangakkara scored a breezy half-century to take Multan level on points (7) with table-toppers Karachi Kings albeit having played a game extra.

At this stage of the tournament, Karachi are the dominant team, although Multan cannot be far behind with the form they showed. After the much-awaited clash last night between the two was washed out, the Sultans flexed their muscles for the rest of the PSLverse to take notice. And it began soon after Shoaib Malik won the toss and elected to field.

Quite familiar. It stuck to the script for a change. 102 was never going to threaten, but given the way things have gone over the last two days, you never knew. But not when Sanga was out there in the middle. He anchored, played some elegant drives and strolled home with ease. But Multan have Imran Tahir to thank. Somewhere around the middle-stage, with Sarfraz out there set, it looked like Quetta would get to something respectable. And it doesn't take time for collapses here while chasing. But Quetta had one for themselves in the first innings, losing their last five wickets for a lone run. Tumbling away on a free-slide to Tahir's hat-trick.

The quicker ball, two-card trick from the veteran. Ali was waiting for the wrong 'un, the ball zipped through and rapped him on the pad. Plumb in front. Ali reviewed, more in hope. Phew! Quetta lost their last 5 wickets for just one run. Multan wrapped it up too quickly. Double T's - Tahir and Tanvir doing the damage. Quetta were under the pump at 69/5 after a top-order collapse. Skipper Sarfraz and Mahmudullah hung around for a while but in quest for quick runs, the latter perished. What followed next was a procession. Tahir wiped off the tail in no time, claiming a hat-trick and Quetta surrender for 102. These small targets are always tricky. Be back soon for Multan's reply.
