Rated as one of the greatest World Cup innings in history, Inzamam's match-winning knock of 60 against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 1992 World Cup turned out to be the turning point in his career and made the world take notice of the young talent.

Needing 123 to win off the final 15 overs, Pakistan were staring at defeat when Inzamam walked into the middle to join the legendary Javed Miandad. The Black Caps were playing in front of their home crowd at Auckland and it seemed that Pakistan had very little hope of a win.

When Bangladesh visited Pakistan in 2003 for a three-match Test series, they had lost 20 of their 21 Test matches till date and after losing the first two matches, it seemed obvious that they would lose the third and final Test as well.But the visitors had other ideas as a brilliant team effort put them nearly on the brink of a famous victory to add to their 1999 World Cup success over the same opponents.

Inzamam's 329 is the second-highest individual score in Pakistan Test history

Inzamam-ul-Haq's monumental 329 against New Zealand at Lahore in 2002 was the talented batsman's highest score in Test cricket and gave little chance for the visitors to recover in a contest which was over in just three days.The Black Caps had no answer to Inzamam's merciless batting display as he spent nearly ten hours at the crease, smashing as many as 38 boundaries and 9 sixes to help Pakistan post a mammoth total of 643 in the first innings.Inzamam deservedly won the Man-of-the-Match award and the knock of 329 is still Pakistan's second-highest individual score in Test cricket behind Hanif Mohammad's 337 against the West Indies in 1958.

India's tour of Pakistan in 2004 was not an ideal one for the hosts and for Inzamam in particular as the skipper because they lost both the ODI and Test legs of the tour to their arch-rivals.But as a player, Inzamam was pretty solid with the bat scoring two ODI centuries and another ton in the Test format. He started off on a brilliant note, nearly guiding Pakistan to victory after the tourists had posted a mammoth total of 349 in the 1st ODI at Karachi. Inzamam led from the front with a majestic knock of 122 that came off just 102 balls.Inzamam fell in the 43rd over and the hosts eventually went on to lose by a margin of just 5 runs and it would most certainly have been a different story had the skipper managed to stay on till the end.

1st Test - 148 vs England at Lord's

With the swing duo of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis in their prime during the 1990s, Pakistan had a very successful time during their tours to England during that period, with some citing Pakistan as one of the greatest touring sides the country had seen.

During the summer of 1992 in England, in the five-Test series that saw Inzamam make his Test debut for Pakistan, the tourists scripted a famous 2-1 victory but it was a series to forget for Inzamam as he struggled in the seaming conditions, averaging just 13.2 in the first four Tests before being dropped for the decider.
